AVEDA Curessence

Start: 6/2004

Bought once

I absolutely love this shampoo.  I bought it straight from the AVEDA store.  I was originally to buy the Sap Moss I kept hearing about.  The salesperson actually took it from me and gave me the curressence.  I'm so glad he did that because it gently clenses my hair and allows for the conditioner to 'take' very well.  It also allows me to comb my hair even with the shampoo in it.
Pantene 2-n-1 Hydrating Curls

Start: 2/2004

Bought once

I love this very moisturizing shampoo. It's not as clensing as the CON when it comes to removing heavy product buildup (like the beeswax in CD HHB), but it's great for when I need to shampoo to remove product from my hair, without taking moisture from my hair. I follow up with Pantene Hydrating Curls Conditioner.

Revlon's Creme of Nature

Start: my relaxer days

End:

Bought 4 times

This has been and still is my favorite shampoo. My hair always feels moisturized and full of life when I soap up my curls with this stuff. It has a nice smell and lathers well. I just love how it doesn't rob my hair of moisture. I used to use this every week, but while I'm doing the conditioner washes I haven't been able to touch this baby in a while and I do miss it. Maybe I'll try to use it as a clarifyer.
Suave Humectant Start: 8/2004 This was my first Suave shampoo (that I bought by accident thinking it was the conditioner). I decided to give it a try anyway and it felt so good in my hair. The shampoo is a pearly color, very thick, and smells like their coconut conditioner. It felt very moisturizing and didn't feel like it was stripping my hair at all. I also have the Suave Awapuhi Conditioner so I used that right after shampooing and it complemented it so well :) This is a keeper.
Organic Root Stimulator Uplifting shampoo /

Bought once, almost finished

When I used this product, I sometimes liked it and sometimes didn't. The shampoo is green with a pearl-like color. It smells minty and is very tingly when I washed my scalp with it. I originally bought this when I was suffering from a dry scalp. It helped me deal with dandruff and an itchy scalp. But at the same time it dried out my hair. Sometimes my hair would love it though and I would lather it up all over my hair, but this wasn't consistant. I don't use this product anymore because I have had no problems with my scalp since I started washing my hair atleast once a week.

Queen Helene Pacenta Acid-Balanced Conditioning Shampoo Concentrate w/Panthenol

Start: 2001?

End: 2003?

Bought once, barely used

This must have been the worst shampoo I have ever bought. It's super drying to my hair and isn't in the least bit moisturizing. I had a hard time with my hair in the shower everytime I used this product in it. Every once in a blue moon, I'll pull it out to give it another shot. Every try gave me bad results. The last time I used it was when I wanted to use it as a clarifyer, since I started doing conditioner washes. I used very little on each section, but it still made my hair feel very stripped and as a result very hard and tough. I'll never use this shampoo again.
ION Shampoo

Start: 2004

End: 2004

This shampoo absolutely SUCKED... the life out of my hair.  I don't know what it did, but my conditioners didn't work at all in my hair after using this product.  I had to wash my hair again the next day.  It actually came for free with the ION hooded dryer. I returned both to Sally's.

VO5 Conditioners

Start: 1/2004

Bought a few

Strawberries N Cream: this is so far the best VO5 conditioner I have washed with to date.  The formula seems to be very rich in moisture, which my hair needs.  It smells good and feels good.

Vanilla: I love how this smells. It's light so it's good for conditioner washes, and is an ok moisturizer when used after a shampoo. It's pretty good.

Pantene Hydrating Curls

Start: 2004

This is a VERY moisturizing conditioner.  It feels like silk in my hair and smells SOOO good. I can easily comb my hair with this stuff in my hair. A drawback is that it's too thick to do conditioner washes with it. It's strictly for moisturizing and silkening hair, not for conditioner washing. When I use this right after a shampoo, the conditioner takes SOO well it's amazing. And if I leave a little in after rinsing, it doesn't feel heavy or gunky or anything. And did I say it smells really good?
Suave Milk and Honey

I love this stuf! It feels semi silky through my hair. I may not be able to fully comb my hair with this stuff though, but I'm still able to condition wash with it. It smells really good to. A bit runny in texture so it finishes kinda quick. Addition: lately I've been using it as a leavein and it holds my hair together very well. Makes my hair smell so good all day.

AURA Rosemary Mint

Start: 2003

Bought once

I love this conditioner. This was one of the first really good conditioners I ever came across, if not the first. This stuff really smells like rosemary, and it smells soo good. It feels like silk in my hair mostly when following a good shampooing. My comb never fails to glide through it when using. It's a very good conditioner.

Organic Root Stimulator, Hair Mayonnaise

Start: 2001

Have bought 4

This is so far the best deep donditioning treatment I have ever used for my hair. It smells like food and looks like thousand island dressing, real chunky and full of goodness.  It makes my hair feel so silky, and it's thick so it stays in my hair. It's easy to comb through.  When I use this, I skip the retular conditioner and sit with the mayo for atleast an hour under my plastic cap, no heat needed. When I rinse it out my hair usually comes out very soft and manageable.  Because of cost, I usually don't use this stuff more than once a month.  I'll also mix it with a cheaper deep conditioner.

LeKair Cholesterol

Start: 2003

This stuff is cheap and it works. It's a thick creamy pink formulaI rub into my hair after shampooing. It's really thick, so I don't try to get a comb through it.  I think the stuff does its job.
Lustrasilk's Aloe Vera Cholesterol Start: 8/2004 This stuff felt really silky going into my hair.

I thought this moisturizer was just okay.  It's a light and creamy moisturizer I used to rub in my hair in its dry state.  It felt okay rubbing in, but the moisturized feeling wouldn't last. It doesn't have any sheen either. I tried rubbing it into my wet hair and saw no results. I changed to mixing it with my hair gel when rubbing in my hair, wet or dry. That was the last use I had found for it b/4 giving it away. I don't think it did anything great to my hair.

Organic Root Stimulator, Olive Oil Creme

*Hated It.*  This stuff really feels moisturizing when rubbing it through my hair, but it also feels greasy, like I'm rubbing in a thick oil. It's a great concept, but not for my hair. This is the type of moisturizer that would cause my hair to collect dust.
Organic Root Stimulator, Shea Butter

Start: 2001

End: 2003

Have bought atleast two

This was once my favorite hair moisturizer, but unfortunately it did me wrong in the end:(  Sad story really... ok not really)  I discovered this product some time after going natural and it just made my nappy days so much better. THEN, a couple yrs pass and this product starts leaving these white spots in my hair, like residue, when I rubbed it in. They weren't the sparkly shine the product gave to the hair, but something of a residue type nature that gave me the impression that the shea butter was spoilt. I think I bought another one after that batch and I got the same results. I had to quit the stuff.

Protectiv moisturizers

Start: 2003

End: 2004

I tried their Breakfree Ends/Hair creme moisturizers and I thought that they were just too thick and oily for my hair.  It would easily cake up and I don't like that for my hair.  Collecting lint just ain't my thang.  If I dont' get rid of them, I may continue to use them for my ends.

Styling Gels

ECO Styler: firm hold

Start: 2003

This so far is the best gel that I've had recently. It's clear, very thick, and coats my hair well. I'm even able to get some shine out of it most times when mixed with a little creme of some sort or spritz hair oil over it.  It holds down my hair real well and defines my waves, especially when I use a lot (which I don't like to do too often). After rubbing this stuff over my hair, I tie a satin scarf over it for a while, and when I take it off my hair is smooth.
Addition: this gel is not great for rubbing into a wash 'n go. It clumps up into tiny round 'rubber' pelets of some sort. I'll continue using it only to smooth over a ponytail.

Suave Aloe Vera /

Start: 2004

End: 2004

This stuff has okay hold but sometimes I'd see my pair poping up and away from my head. It also had no sheen, no matter what I added to it. It works well on my sister's relaxed hair, light and not heavy.
