The best education you can receive is in a book.

I encourage all women who are transitioning into growing their virgin hair go out and get a book and learn about your hair.  I can't tell you how comforting it is for me to be able to refer back to one of my hair books for information.  Websites are here to suppliment what we learn and may not have all the information a good hair book will have.

This was one of my first hair books and remains my favorite hair book to this date. The book lives up to its title because it teaches you about the history of our tight curly hair, the makeup and structure of our hair strands, how to take care of it, and the styles you can perform on our hair.  I use this book for hair education.  I love referring to the definitions on hair ingredients and suggested hair brews.  This book may not be helpful as a style guide because many of the styles seemed to be out of date.   This was another hair book I bought when I was transitioning.  I don't remember too much about the book but that when my sister decided to grow natural hair I gave this to her and she found it very helpful.
